After a last minute phone call from the director of SCI Tournaments on Tuesday 25th May asking "could you raise a team for the tournament that weekend ?" the 28th May, It was going to be a tall order!!!! Having made the phone calls to the parents checking on availabilty we managed to raise a team.

Saturday morning came and off we set, on a 300 mile round trip journey to take part in the tournament in which teams from all over Great Britain compete. Having 3 new players who have just started to train with the team, the question on everyone's mind was " will the team gell "? That question was answered swiftly after beating the tournaments favourites from Scotland 1-0 in our opening game. As the tournament progressed the boys just got better and better!! Day 1 finished with us winning all of our games except one, which ended in a draw. It was now Readstone who where the team to beat.

Day 2 came with our 1st game being against the former favourites from Scotland. The game kicked off with end to end attacks from both teams. Half time approached and the Scottish team got a lucky break, 1-0. The 2nd half started as the first, attack after attack, mainly from Readstone. It was looking like it was going to be another one of those games we have so often had this season. And it was, another break for the opposition saw a good finish with the ball ending up in the back of our net, 2-0. Our first defeat!!

To garauntee being crowned as tournament champions we needed to win all of our remaining games. A tall order for a team with 3 players having never played with the team before. On we went with the determination and endless effort making sure we won our next game, we were back on track. The next game came and so did the win, but with the win came the hail stone then the wind then the rain and thankfully the sunshine! With the sunshine came more victories, seeing us complete the day with the wins needed to become CHAMPIONS!!!!!
